A unique ornithological reserve

It is the oldest and most important Ornithological reserve Privately owned by France. It was created in 1912 in reaction to the puffin massacre. Since that date, and its classification as a national nature reserve in 1976, it has attracted many other species.

It is thus home to 25,000 pairs of seabirds, including 175 pairs of Atlantic puffin (the last colony in mainland France), 157 pairs of shearwaters of the English and 22,000 pairs of Gannet (the only French colony). In addition to birds, the reserve also hosts A colony of gray seals of about 40 individuals, the second largest in our territory, after the Molène archipelago.

Getting to the Seven Islands

The best way to approach these birds is by taking the passenger boats that offer excursions around this archipelago. During this excursion, you will discover the various islands of the archipelago and the Pink Granite Coast thanks to the live comments of our marine guides.

If you choose the 2.5-hour trip, you will have the opportunity to stop for 45 minutes on Île aux Moines and discover its Fort Vauban, its lighthouse and a very nice panorama of the archipelago.
Every afternoon in July and August, photo Safari outings are organized, specially designed for the observation of wildlife at sea and the Pink Granite Coast aboard a small 12-seater boat “Le Cormorant”.

Another way to discover the 7 islands in a more intimate way: the Fillao. This 9-meter schooner, accessible to all, is distinguished by its stability and comfort while offering beautiful nautical sensations.
